my village

there is an african proverb i'm sure you've heard - 'it takes a village to raise a child'.

i've thought a lot about that quote over the past month.  now that i am home full time with my two littles, and regularly feeling the weight of caring for and nurturing them, i sense an almost desperate need for others to help me.  raising children is a tremendous job and surely no one person is equipped to provide them with everything they need.  before we moved to tennessee i was regularly supported and encouraged by my 'village'.  we didn't all live within arm's reach of one another {as the term 'village' traditionally implies} but these people did create a community that almost felt wrapped around me like a soft blanket - keeping me warm and cozy even during the most chilling conditions of life.  they still do...

i wanted you to see the faces of some of my 'village people' and the time i spent with them right before our big move...they are seriously heros to me and most definitely post-worthy during these changing seasons in my life...

my bff meg...
...there are truly no words for a soul sister like this.
the super-cool piece of artwork she gave me for my new home.
it is full of reminders of my season in charlotte...
{you can make your own at shape collage}
some of my girls gathered to wish me well.  i swore i was going to get one big group shot but of course i started drinking wine and chatting and forgot.  here's at least some of us...
...and a few more of those beautiful ladies...

a special evening with my new charlotte church family.  these are just a few of the amazing students whom i have served alongside for the past several months...
so many friends who love our family well...
who make us smile...
and laugh...
they surprised us with this custom canvas painted by my sweet, talented friend arin...
everyone left their fingerprint leaf on the tree...so cool.
it looks great in our new house...
...makes it feel more like home...

to all my 'village people' near and far...xoxoxo
