bed head

::good morning bed head:: i know that my sorry attempt at a haircut didn't work out so well and i should probably go ahead and seek a professional's help.  but somehow i can't bring myself to get rid of these golden locks...
they are somehow this beautiful contradiction.
a crazy chaotic mess of hair on top of this sweet, cautious, peaceful boy...

2 journeys to china...

i've just come off a 'month of stories' and wanted to quickly share a couple of real life adoption stories that i am following right now.

my friends jaclyn and patrick are in china right now spending their very first day with the newest member of their family {i think you'll LOVE his name!}...the beginning of their life as a family of 7!  check out their story HERE

on the flip side, my friends matt and shari are just beginning their adoption story.  after being completely content with their 2 biological kiddos for the past 5 years they have suddenly received an unexpected call to add a certain precious little girl into their family...the beginning of their life as a family of 5!  check out their story HERE
my heart is always so full when i have the privilege to witness a family opening the door of their home and their heart to a child who otherwise would never know what 'family' felt like.  both of these families {and so many others} have stepped out in faith down a sometimes difficult and scary road that ultimately leads them to the child God created them to love and parent.  if you have ever wondered what you can do to help orphaned children here is one quick and easy contribution you can make right now...go to matt and shari's blog and donate any little {or BIG} amount of money you feel you can provide to helping them bring their daughter home...that is money well spent...

a little summer getaway...

all that wrestling wallpaper wore us out so we are spending the week recuperating.
this has been my view the past few days...
there's not much that i enjoy more than having my toes covered in sand, watching my family soak up every single bit of fun the beach has to offer.
we love any chance we get to spend oceanside!
::pink cheeks::
::lazy days::
::date night::
::beachy fashion::
::crashing waves::
...and even some nice quiet moments to read and relax alone...
here's an important truth i stumbled upon yesterday while ready my current study {duty or delight by tammy head}
Often we fail to recognize that waiting forces desperation.  When we are desperate, we become willing to listen to whatever God says.  God considers the lapse of time between slavery and freedom critical.  He patiently waits for us to be convinced of His faithfulness because 'faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.'

man...i needed that...

that dirty 'w' word

  i'm hoping some of you out there will be able to extend a little sympathy to us.  this is what we have spent the past couple of days working on...

yep - the dreaded wallpaper removal.  our master bath was covered in what i swear was the thickest decorative wallpaper ever!  and it appears to have been superglued on in some places.
the truth's a pretty simple process.  all you really need is the following...
fabric softener - pick a fragrance you love because the room will be smelling like it for days
 spray bottle - splurge on the big $2 kind that you find at a home improvement store instead of the tiny cheap-o one from the travel section at the pharmacy
 water - to dilute the fabric softener
 scraper - or a good set of fingernails
and a lot of patience...
finished product coming soon {i hope!}
