first friday finds :: may 2014

{It's #firstfridayfinds time again and here's this month's unedited, 15 minutes worth of truth.  Please share yours at the bottom too!}
When someone you love is lost it's hard to help them find their way...find the way.
When you see the damage that years of believing lies has done to their hearts and minds you pray desperately that somehow they would find the truth.
When the decisions they are making lead them to the death of their soul over and over again the only solution is to lead them to that one hidden place where life can be found.

Recently I've been struggling with how to help someone I love and I've felt so inadequate.

With my face to the floor in prayer this week I heard God say to me - just offer her Jesus.

We offer food
clothes
shelter
advice
a hug
a smile
a shoulder to cry on...
and in doing so we give people a glimpse of who Jesus is and who he calls us to be, but if we really want to lead the lost back home again we have to grab lovingly ahold of their shoulders and turn them away from a life of death and set their gaze on the precious face of Jesus himself.  In that turning we hope that they will see that what they had before wasn't a life...it was a slow dying...but...

Sometimes I'm afraid to introduce people to Jesus...not because of what they will think of me, but because of what they might think of him.  I don't want them to reject him.  But the truth is...
Jesus was rejected.
He has been and will continue to be...
but that didn't stop him from defeating death to bring life.
And so I'm still haunted by the question - who will make the introduction?

When we are lost we need to know the way
and discover the truth
and find real life.
And there is only one person in whom that can be found completely.
His name is Jesus.
As you find out more and more about him, you'll find yourself closer and closer to home.
