the choices we make

It’s quiet and warm in here.

The floors are covered in rich thick wood with darker shades of uneven grain.  The walls are soft and creamy.

Someone took care in choosing the furniture and positioning the accessories.  The black and white picture of the boat resting on the edge of a lake is my favorite.  It hangs above a small black chest with a bowed front and curved legs that look like they might begin dancing at any moment.  The color of the five little candles lining the buffet table is lovely too.  It reminds me of the ocean.

Comfort
beauty
stillness
silence
surround me.

I sit alone occasionally shifting my eyes towards the window-lined wall where I can see a pond in the distance.  Along it's curving shore bare trees stand tall with the hills hidden behind them.  It looks warm for a winter day.  The sky is a powdery blue with clouds like pulled cotton above the trees.  Below the windows is a swimming pool that I can not see.  I know it's there.  The evidence is in the dancing glow of the sun's reflection on the ceiling.

It could be just another day,
just another place,
just another time to sit and write…
or it could be magical
and grand
and abundantly more than I deserve.

I could choose to close my eyes and walking blindly through this day or open them wide to the gifts poured over and around and into me.
I could choose to feel burdened by the heaviness that life hands us or set free by the beauty that surpasses it all.

I could choose carelessness
but I’d rather choose celebration.

I could choose to be indifferent
but I’d rather choose to be inspired.

Those choices make all the difference.
Those choices give me breath...
and breath gives me life.

We closed ticket sales for The Breathing Room :: Charlotte last night and if you are one of the 90 women who will be joining us on Sunday - I can't wait to see your face!  Eeeeekkkk!!  {I am trying to contain my excitement.  Ok...not really.}

If you couldn't make it this time, that's alright.  You can still come along for the ride as we explore what it means to choose to breathe deeper breaths and live deeper lives.  We will be chronically much of our journey on our Facebook page and via social media using these hashtags -
